During my whole Geek Squad debacle, LTWF had a book trailer contest. I wanted to enter, but it was impossible... you know, seeing as how I didn't have a computer for a month. But I was okay with not entering--I was just grateful that they got me started thinking about making the trailer. (And so did Nathan Bransford and Myrlin A. Hermes.)
So. I made one :-) And let me tell ya, it was super fun! The following is my finished project*:
Oh, and I started a Youtube channel... not that there's much material there yet, but friend me if you have one! Click here for my channel!
*This book trailer was not made for profit. Just for fun!

ReplyDeleteI'm on dial-up. Bugger! Sadly, couldn't get to view Shattered trailer.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure it was great though :)
Your trailer is so pretty! It's really eye-catching.
ReplyDeleteWhat programs did you use to make it?
I've seen quite a few trailers by now, and that is one of the best, Sara! I loved the music and the tempo change in the images. Really well done :)
ReplyDeleteYou are the video queen! Great job. :)
ReplyDeleteThats my FAVORITE trailer music, Ive been obsessed with Lux Aeterna since The Two Towers! Nicely done!
ReplyDeleteOh Wow! That was awesome! That totally makes me want to make a trailer of my own. So cool :)

This is great, Sara! Sorry I am just now watching it. But it was seriously great! I am so pumped to read your book now! So, if you could go ahead and get that thing published, that would be great. =)
ReplyDeleteOMG... Sara this is great! I would so buy your book right now. : )
ReplyDeleteMaking book trailers is so much fun. It's my favorite way to procrastinate. I haven't had a chance to try out my iMovie program on the Mac but I can't wait! : )
Stupid firewall... Will send myself an email so I remember to come back after work. :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I love the angle of her looking up at the apple. Very well put together. Book trailers are a very recent discovery for me but I have to say I'm liking them. Very exciting. I don't have enough (well, any) video expertise to make my own but it's fun to fantasize and who knows, maybe when I get to the point where I'm ready to share some of my book with the world, I'll figure out what I can put together. Thanks for sharing.♥
ReplyDeleteYour trailer is fantastic!!! I totally want to read the book now! :D
ReplyDeleteDo you mind if I showcase it on my blog this Friday?
Wonderful trailer! Flows smoothly, text is easy to read, great music! Looking forward to reading the book!
ReplyDeleteOh, wow! This trailer was just plain Wow! I can't wait to read it!
ReplyDeleteVery cool trailer (and premise!)!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove it!!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat trailer! It's hard to put together something effective and isn't flat, but yours is fabulous! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteSara,
ReplyDeleteThat's really professional for something you did for fun! I've messed around with my adobe, so I can do one for Nightshade City soon. You did a great job...seriously! It's good!
xoxo -- Hilary
Aw you guys really THANK YOU! Anytime I'm feeling low, I'm just gonna come back here and reread your comments :-)
ReplyDeleteRegarding some of the questions:
Elle, I'm hoping over to your blog re: your makeover question as soon as I post this!
Shannon I would totally make one for Chasing Everblaze if you wanted me to :) But I have a feeling yours would turn out even better if you did it with your background and all!
Guinevere, I used iMovie--an app that came on my Mac. But if you don't have a mac, there's a program you can dl for free for PCs! Click the LTWF link in my post, I think there's a link to the program there.
Iapetus, I totally giggled at your comment. Thanks for sharing it and I hope it lives up to the hype too, ha.
Ella, you think I'm joking but I totally would make one for you! I LOVED making mine. So. Much. FUN.
Nathalie, that is so sweet of you! I would love it if you did :) Aw, I'm literally blushing right now!!
That was awesome! Very epic. By the way, what is the song you used? It's used in a lot of things, and I know it's on the Requiem for a Dream soundtrack but it's a different version.
ReplyDeleteVERY good!!!
ReplyDeleteI said it before but I'll say it again. Very impressive. I would have no clue how to even begin creating a trailer. Fabulous job! :)
ReplyDeleteThat trailer was AWESOME!!! I would have no clue how to even go about doing that! So cool. I was so excited watching it!
ReplyDeleteLove, Love, LOVE this trailer!! Excellent!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog~
So it looks like I expressed my feelings on this trailer pretty much everywhere except here! Ahh! How did I do that? Seriously. I suck.
ReplyDeleteSo, to make up for it:
This trailer for Shattered is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, but you knew that already! So, tomorrow (err..later) I'll post a public apology for being a lame CP. K?
And I'll do a little dance for you right now *Dances like a loon*
There, see, I totally danced for you like an idiot and made a complete fool of myself in front of EVERYBODY!
There now...oh yeah, and your trailer rocks!!! I loved that rapid-fire section with all the pics? Super cool. And the salt spill (brilliant, darling!). It's soooo good, and even if I hadn't read the ms already and to know how awesome it is, the trailer would make me want to read it. So, well done, sweetie peetie lemoneetie.
P.S. Love the 12 1/2 writing rules!!
Fabulous trailer! I love it!
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks for visiting my blog! Looks like we're gonna get along just fine, I've just had a peek through yours and I <3 it!

Very Cool Sara! I'm extremely impressed.
ReplyDeleteWow! I love how you kept the pace up like that! And you varied your font really well. Awesome trailer! Your first line about her eyes changing color really hooked me!

Wow!!! Awesome trailer. That was soooooooo cool.
ReplyDeleteSara, I was just stopping back by because I think you live in the same area I do, and there's a writing event coming up I thought was really neat -- Agent Idol, where agents judge your query/first three pages in a contest (and it's free, sponsored by The Writer's Center). In case you were interested, I thought I'd drop you a note.

WOW!! Great trailer.
ReplyDeleteSara! Fantastic job! I showed my hubby (he's going to make mine). He produces and directs video for a living and he said "Wow, that's really impressive for iMovie." That's a HUGE compliment coming from him (not that I needed to hear it, I obviously loved it so much I had to share it with non-fiction-reading-husband).
ReplyDeleteAnyway, awesome job. Makes me eager to poke hubs in the arse to get moving with mine.
Wow!!!
ReplyDeleteSara, your trailer is AMAZING!!! Tell me more about this book!!!

ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, I got chills! :D That was incredible. Well done!
ReplyDeleteThis looks wonderful for the YA market!
ReplyDeleteOld news, I know. But I just saw your trailer for Shattered. I loved it. I pulled out my reading list and started adding it, then hopped over to goodreads to get the rest of the details and came up blank. It took me a while to realize Sara McClung was THE Sara of Babbling Flow. Duh!
ReplyDeleteI'd read this book. Totally! If you haven't finished it, FINISH IT!
If you haven't found representation, I wish you all the luck.
