A Chance to Help

This summer, Pakistan was hit with the worst flooding the country's had in over eighty years. Ten million people are now homeless because the floods destroyed their homes. And an estimated twenty million have been affected overall.

And those numbers in the millions turn to billions when we start talking about how much damage has been caused. An estimated 43 million dollars is needed to get Pakistan back on track.

Those people need help. And Reggie, aka the Undercover Book Lover, is doing something about it. She's fundraising for the Pakistan Flood Relief Fund. She's set up these awesome auctions and all the money raised will go to the cause.

The following are some of the auctions still open--and the list seems to be growing!!

Signed Lipstick Laws Package!
20 Page Critique from Carrie Harris, Author of Bad Taste in Boys
Signed Copy of The Duff by Kody Keplinger
Signed Audio Book of The Duff by Kody Keplinger
Two Critique Packages from Angela Morrison
Signed Copy of Chasing Brooklyn by Lisa Schroeder
20 Page Critique From Tessa Gratton (Blood Magic)
Signed The Body Finder Package! (comes with an ARC of Desires of the Dead!!!)
Signed Copies of Stargazer by Claudia Gray

Reggie's so cool! She wants to help people in real need--AND she's giving us a way to help--AND yet again people in the writing community stepped up to donate amazing prizes to be auctioned off.

If you head over there, make sure you check out how the auctions work!

Thanks for stopping by!

Win a SIGNED set of Shiver/Linger!! Skip a Day of Starbucks to enter!

I have HUGE exciting news! My our friend CJ Redwine is adopting an orphan from China!!

After five long years of waiting, she and her family were informed that they're very close!! As in, they'll be traveling to China in October or November, as soon as they get her picture and permission!! Weeeeeeeeeeee! I'm pretty much jumping up and down in my seat right now because CJ is going to make the BEST mother for this precious little girl!

But there's a problem :(

See, originally the process was supposed to take 6-8 months but it stretched into YEARS. And in that time? China's raised the orphanage fee by thousands. Between that, and having to redo their homestudy, their petition for orphan naturalization and their fingerprints FOUR TIMES, the Redwines are 8k short of being able to bring their baby home.

And this little girl deserves to be able to come home to her new loving parents and brothers. As a community, we have a chance to stand together and make it happen. It's so easy. All you have to do is skip Starbucks for a day and donate those few dollars to help bring CJ's baby home.

If you don't know CJ, you should. She's amazing and gives so much to the writing community! She offers query and synopsis and plotting workshop, in which a TON of her clients have walked away with agents. She hosts author interviews and giveaways on her blog, helping to spread the word about amazing books. She's hysterical, and sweet, and a really, really good person.

If that's not enough to convince you? I tell you what: If you donate, I'll sweeten the pot and enter you in a drawing to win a SIGNED set of SHIVER and LINGER, by Maggie Stiefvater.
To enter, you must donate! I don't need to know how much you offer or anything (though please, please, please, I'll love you forever if you make it at least $5!), but you do need to leave a comment here to let me know you've donated. Eligible donations must be made between August 23 & August 26.

I WILL SHIP THE PRIZE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD!!
OPEN INTERNATIONALLY!

Do the Write Thing

In case you hadn't heard, there's some serious stuff going on in Nashville.

On May 1st and 2nd, Nashville, Tennessee received a record amount of rain—nearly 13.5 inches.  By May 3rd, huge portions of our city were under water, including the The Grand Ole Opry, Opryland, The Nashville Symphony Hall, the downtown area, and countless homes.  Families, many of whom did not have flood insurance, have lost everything.  One of the hydro plants is flooded, which means we’re running short on water.  Many lives have been extinguished and more bodies are being recovered each day.*

As a community of writers, thanks to Myra McEntire, Amanda Morgan, and Victoria Schwab, we have an opportunity to band together and make a difference.

And we SHOULD.

Here's the deal: The three awesome, aforementioned ladies are setting up daily auctions to raise money for Nashville--and everything up for bidding has SOMETHING cool to do with the writing community! You'll have the opportunity to bid on critiques and swag and more. Each auction will have 12-15 items. The first one starts today at 9 am CST! So go and bid and do some good (and get cool stuff as a nice little perk)!
